We are currently running inshore and nearshore trips in a 2017 Hanson Skiff. Having a length of 23', a width of 9'-6", and a shallow draft, this vessel allows us to fish the inshore flats, the back country rivers, the deep channels of Tampa Bay, and nearshore reefs. The boat is equipped with a large custom livewell, Bob's Machine Shop Jacket Plate, 8' Power Pole, Minnkota I-Pilot, Lowrance Electronics and many other features.
The vessel is a serious fishing boat equipped for one purpose...to catch fish. We would love to have you aboard. Having a shallow draft of 8", our boat allows us to access the skinny waters. Yet she has enough keel under to cut through Tampa Bay when it is a little bumpy. The Hanson Skiff has been custom fit and streamlined to maximum fishability. Our boat can handle the job.
Rick grew up fishing the Tampa Bay area and has over 30 years of inshore, offshore, & freshwater experience in the commercial sector, the charter profession, and recreational fishing. He has fished waters ranging from Columbia, South America all the way north to Charleston, S.C. Being born and raised in the Tampa Bay area, he knows these waters well. While Rick's father, grandfather and grandmother taught him much about fishing, his cousin Captain Jerry Rathey and Jerry's father Captain Pete Rathey trained Rick to be a professional captain and fisherman. Jerry & Pete have been professionally fishing the Tampa Bay Area since the 1930's and Rick has been able to glean from their wealth of knowledge. Rick has taught fishing seminars, been on the cover of fishing magazines and has been featured on TV Shows.
You can be assured that with Rick behind the helm you will be well taken care off. He is a fourth generation professional fisherman and is well trained to give you the trip of a lifetime.
Rick is also the father of four young children, so bring your young anglers and be at ease that he will be patient as you search for trophy catches. Rick loves to share his fishing knowledge. Being a gifted teacher and published author, he is able to impart passion for the sport of fishing. You will end the day with more than just a fish story. We will do our part to make you a better fisherman if you desire. Rick is always looking for an edge to become a better captain and fisherman, please feel free to share your techniques or critiques. We welcome your feed back.
